BEAUTY
WITHOUT HARM

Lab-grown gems are as real as natural ones. And they are also ecological gems: no mining, no environmental impact, no human conflict.

A conscious choice

True exclusivity
is also in the origin

Choosing a lab-grown gem is not giving up authenticity. It is redefining it. It is choosing a real precious stone with a different story behind it: without mines, without conflict, with complete traceability.

Traditional mining of diamonds and coloured stones carries enormous environmental and human costs. Laboratory gemstones offer an alternative that surrenders nothing (neither beauty, nor authenticity, nor value) yet eliminates all the harm.

OUR COMMITMENT

01

Ecological
sustainability

Mining extraction of diamonds and gemstones requires moving millions of tonnes of earth, consumes enormous quantities of water and leaves permanent scars on ecosystems. Laboratory gemstones eliminate this impact completely. The process is carried out in controlled environments, with minimal resource consumption compared to traditional mining.

02

Human
sustainability

The diamond and coloured gemstone mining industry has a history marked by armed conflicts, precarious working conditions and exploitation in developing countries. So-called "blood diamonds" or "conflict diamonds" have financed wars for decades. Choosing a laboratory gemstone is choosing that your jewellery has no such history.

03

Full
traceability

Every Sakti Atelier gemstone has a documented and verifiable origin from sample to delivery. We know exactly which laboratory created it, under what conditions and with what materials. It is the level of transparency that traditional mining cannot offer.

Ecological Impact

What does not
move the earth
does not break it

Extracting one carat of natural diamond requires removing approximately 250 tonnes of earth and consumes large quantities of water and energy. It generates pollution, destroys habitats and leaves craters that take decades to recover.

A laboratory gemstone is created in a controlled environment, without earth movement, without spillage and with a drastically lower environmental footprint. The same stone. Without the same harm.

Human Impact

A jewel that
owes nothing
to anyone

The Kimberley Process was created in 2003 to stop conflict diamond trafficking. But estimates indicate that a significant portion of diamonds in the global market still has questionable origin.

Laboratory gemstones completely eliminate this risk. Their origin is a certified laboratory, their production conditions are known and their workers live in dignified conditions. No conflict zones, no opaque intermediaries, no doubt.

Authenticity

They are
authentic gems.
Without exception.

A laboratory diamond is not an imitation. It is not cubic zirconia nor crystal. It is crystallised carbon in cubic structure, exactly the same as that extracted from the earth. The only difference is where it was born.

The same applies to sapphires and rubies: they are pure corundum, with the same composition, the same hardness (9 on the Mohs scale) and the same brilliance as those extracted from mines in Sri Lanka or Myanmar — without the impact of extracting them from there.

No gemologist can visually distinguish a laboratory gemstone from a natural one. The difference is only detectable with specialised equipment and is documented in the certificate.

Beyond the diamond

Rubies and sapphires
just as real,
just as ethical

Mining of rubies and sapphires also has high impact: it is concentrated in countries with poor environmental and labour regulation, such as Burma, Madagascar or Colombia. Extraction conditions are frequently dangerous.

Sakti Atelier rubies and sapphires are created in the laboratory with exactly the same properties as natural ones: corundum (Al₂O₃) with traces of chromium for rubies and titanium or iron for sapphires. Authentic. Ethical. Traceable.

Are laboratory gemstones as good as natural ones? Yes: a laboratory diamond is crystallised carbon with hardness 10 Mohs (identical to natural in composition, brilliance and gemological certification) but without mining extraction, without conflict and with complete traceability from its origin.

Are laboratory diamonds more sustainable than natural ones? Yes: extracting one carat of natural diamond requires removing approximately 250 tonnes of earth. Laboratory diamonds are created in controlled environments without earth movement, without spillage and with drastically lower environmental impact — while maintaining identical physical, chemical and gemological properties.
